Thank you for your interest in the Isanti Police Department Citizen’s Academy. The Citizen’s Academy will be an six-week course designed to get an inside look of the Department’s operations. The weekly courses will consist of classroom lectures, live demonstrations, facility tours, hands-on training exercises of traffic stops, DWI investigations, defensive tactics, CPR/AED certification and live action scenarios.
These training sessions will occur on the following Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.:
- September 10 and 24
- October 8 and 22
- November 5 and 19
Please complete the application form to be considered for the upcoming class. To maximize the hands-on portion of this training, the number of participants will be limited.
A brief background check will be conducted to ensure that you meet our eligibility requirements.
You must:
- Be 21 years of age
- Have no felony convictions
- Have no misdemeanor arrests in the past 5 years
- Have no assault/domestic violence
- Have no weapons convictions
- Priority will be given to City of Isanti residents

Completed applications can be dropped off at the Isanti Police Department Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. located at 901 East Dual Blvd NE. If you are unable to make it during business hours, they may be dropped in our secure mailbox.
