Thank you for your interest in establishing a cannabis business within the City of Isanti. To assist with your application and planning, please find the relevant ordinances, registration forms, and a summary of our internal review process below.

Key Information for Applicants

To ensure a smooth review process, please keep the following pertinent details in mind:

  • Licensing Capacity: The City of Isanti does not currently have a limit on the number of licenses issued within city limits.
  • Required Documentation: In addition to the city application, you must provide a valid state license or an Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) pre-approval notice.
  • Zoning & Distance Requirements: Applications are subject to a zoning review to ensure the location is in an approved district and meets distance requirements (e.g., at least 300 feet from a school).
  • Financial Standing: All applicants must have no outstanding fees, fines, or unpaid balances owed to the City of Isanti before an application can be processed.
  • Fees: Per City Code, registration fees are non-refundable and are not pro-rated.
  • Approval Process: Once staff completes the initial review and zoning verification, the application is forwarded to the City Council for final approval or denial.
  • Expiration: All city registrations expire on December 31st of each year, regardless of the date they were issued.
  • Compliance: The Isanti Police Department conducts at least one unannounced age-verification compliance check annually.
