The City of Isanti's Municipal Liquor Store is located at 10 6th Ave SE (on the East side of Hwy 65, just South of Coborns). Isanti Liquor, which is owned by the City of Isanti, operates in order to help offset general city expenses by using the liquor store’s profits. Since 2021, the store has poured $2,470,895 back into the City’s General Fund to support local services, which helps to reduce taxes for residents and businesses.

Staff at Isanti Liquor take the responsibility of controlling the sale of alcohol very seriously. Staff have training on how to verify ID's, and to recognize signs of impairment. Staff will not sell to people who do not have a Valid ID, or to people that are obviously intoxicated. Staff will also refuse to sell to individuals that are part of a group when any individual in that group does not have a valid ID. Please have your valid ID on you when shopping at Isanti Liquor.

Valid forms of ID include: a valid driver’s license, a valid state identification card from Canada (which includes a photograph and date of birth), a valid military I.D. issued by the U.S. Dept. of Defense, a valid passport, or a valid tribal I.D.

Special: Veterans Discount

Current and former military personnel can receive a 10% discount on non-sale items EVERY DAY. If we don't ask, please mention that you're active duty or a veteran at the time of purchase and have your military ID ready. We appreciate your service and are happy to offer all service members the Veterans Discount.

Special: Senior Citizen Tuesday

All customers at least 62 years old receive a 10% discount on non-sale items every Tuesday. If we don't ask, please mention that you qualify for the Senior Citizen Discount and have your ID ready. We appreciate your business and are happy to offer seniors this discount every Tuesday.

Municipal Liquor Stores

Per the 2024 MN Municipal Liquor Report -
  • The combined net profits, before transfers, of all municipal liquor operations totaled $36.2 million in 2024. This represents an increase of $4.6 million, or 14.6 percent, over the amount generated in 2023. Among on-sale operations, net profits totaled $6.6 million in 2024, which was an increase of $1.9 million, or 39.3 percent, over 2023. Total net profits for off-sale operations totaled $29.6 million in 2024, which represents an increase of $2.8 million, or 10.2 percent, over 2023.
  • Over the past five years, net profits increased 0.4 percent. Among off-sale operations, there was a 10.1 percent decrease in net profits, while on-sale establishments showed an increase of 112.0 percent.
  • Twenty-seven Minnesota cities reported net losses for 2024 (four fewer than 2023). Twenty-six of the twenty-seven cities with losses were in Greater Minnesota.
  • During 2024, Minnesota’s municipal liquor operations reported total sales of $436.4 million, the first sales decrease in 28 years. Total sales generated in 2024 decreased by $989,613, or 0.2 percent, from 2023. Among individual liquor operations that were in business for all of 2024, total sales ranged from $24,689 in Elmore to $22.6 million in Lakeville.  
  • During 2024, Minnesota’s municipal liquor operations reported operating expenses totaling $104 million. This represents an increase of $1.6 million, or 1.6 percent, over the amount reported in 2023.
  • Municipal liquor operations located within the Metro Area are considerably larger and more profitable than their Greater Minnesota counterparts. Although only 18 of the 174 Minnesota cities (10.3 percent) that own and operate municipal liquor stores are in the Metro Area, they represent 33.1 percent of the total sales and 29.8 percent of the net profits of municipal liquor operations. Sales by all Metro Area municipal liquor operations averaged $3.8 million in 2024, compared to average sales of $1.7 million for all Greater Minnesota operations.
  • During 2024, Minnesota’s municipal liquor stores had net transfers (transfers out minus transfers in) of $26.3 million. This represents a decrease of 7.6 percent from the total net transfers made in 2023. Net transfers totaled $7.7 million among Metro Area establishments, compared to $18.6 million for Greater Minnesota establishments.
